Irvin: “I do have stuff to hide” hours before civil suit drops

By dcfanatic, February 9, 2010 1:02 am

Michael Irvin. Searching around on Youtube I came across this interview he did with Sid Rosenberg from WQAM in Miami on Thursday morning.

This interview was done hours before the story drops about Irvin being named in a civil suit where he is accused of rape.

Watch this thing and tell me it's not the oddest thing to hear him talking about still having 'stuff to hide' hours before he's back on the front pages for some sort of controversial stuff..

Issues. Tiger Woods. Sapp stops by to give him a pound. Stuff to hide. Amalekites.

That interview was weird enough.

But knowing how the rest of his day went and knowing what you know now that thing was weird on a whole different level, lol.

Mike leads a very interesting life is all I'm saying here.

Here’s Emmitt going for 22 touchdowns

Very dry right now as it's all about the Saints and their Super Bowl victory.

A few one liners...

Jerry Jones didn't seem to want to even address the Deon Anderson dilemma, read here.

There has been a lot of people saying they would to see the Cowboys play the 49ers in the Hall of Fame game, but Jerry Jones is not sounding too overly excited about this happening, read here.

Emmitt Smith has not decided yet who will inducting him into the Hall of Fame, read here.

"I have a short list, but I'm not going to give the names out," Smith said. "I think it's a very special moment for the person that I pick. I wanted to treat it with the utmost respect and give it the attention that it deserves and so when that moment comes, that person will know."

You choose Moose Johnston and that's that!

Here's 22 TD runs by the greatest RB in NFL history...

Congrats to the New Orleans Saints

By dcfanatic, February 8, 2010 1:03 am

You gotta hand it to the Saints. They came in as underdogs and they played like champions in the second half to come away with the win...

Drew Brees got hot in this game and won the well deserved MVP award...

Peyton Manning is one of the greatest QB's in the game, but he made a critical error and Tracy Porter made a play for his team...

The score was 31-17, but this game was much closer.

breesson

Congrats to Drew Brees, Sean Payton and the Saints for a great season.

Miles with Playboy Cybergirl at Super Bowl XVI

By dcfanatic, February 6, 2010 8:57 pm

Miles Austin is having a grand ole time down at the Super Bowl, but he got completely ripped off at the Madden Bowl...

How does he not win if the TV goes out and he's got the lead at the time? BS if you ask me.

Emmitt gets the nod: Haley snubbed

Emmitt Smith was all sorts of emotional after getting the nod today...

Well deserved and I was so happy to see Emmitt let the tears flow while he has Michael right there to support him.

Charles Haley is a Hall of Famer. One day the writers will understand this and he will get the honor.

Will Charles Haley get the nod tomorrow?

We all know they are going to announce Emmitt Smith's name tomorrow as a member of the 2010 Hall of Fame class.

But the real intrigue for me is whether or not we hear Charles Haley's name called.

Charean Williams of the Star Telegram is on the Hall of Fame selection committee and she has a very good article on Haley, read here.

He has never been happier than he is now. Haley was diagnosed with bipolar disorder after he retired from football, but only in the past 18 months or so has he managed to control the mood swings. He now confronts his demons with therapy, medication and born-again Christianity.

"I feel great," Haley said, sipping his coffee at a Starbucks. "I'm enjoying life. I enjoy being around people. I don't hide anymore. I don't stay at home. I get out. I'm able to do more things and be around people and enjoy myself instead of worrying about did so-and-so know I did this, know I did that? What do they think of me? That kept me home a lot, because I was so self-conscious about some of the things that were written, true or false. But it's out there."

I only pulled this blurb from the article just to give you a taste of where he is in life right now. Go read the entire article.

Charles Haley is a Hall of Famer.

The NFL game is all about winning the Super Bowl. Haley was a major factor in helping his teams win Super Bowls in five different seasons. He wasn't just a bit player that faded into the background when the game was on the line. Opposing offensive coordinators had to game plan for him like they do these days for DeMarcus Ware.

I know we will be celebrating for Emmitt tomorrow, but I really hope we can take this celebration to another level because Charles Haley also got the nod.

Irvin files $100 mil countersuit today

By dcfanatic, February 5, 2010 6:41 pm

Michael Irvin is fighting back against the woman who is accusing him of rape...

Bravo to the NFL Network for allowing him to work this weekend on coverage surrounding the Super Bowl and the Hall of Fame 2010 class announcement.

Hamlin and Skippy: Emmitt, LT, Terrell Owens

These guys do not seem to be giving Emmitt Smith enough credit at all...

If Emmitt isn't in the top four of all time then you can take that list and throw it in the garbage.

Emmitt, Barry, Jim Brown and Walter Payton. For me you can rank these four anywhere you want as long as they remain in the top four.

Terrell Owens to the Bengals in 2010?

LT will play again, but it won't be back in SD. He's still got something left in the tank. I could see him going to a playoff contender in 2010.

Adrian Pedestrian, lol. Skip hate with the best of them.

Terrell Owens and Ochocinco in the same locker room?

Disaster.

ESPN already drops Irvin Show

Well it didn't take long for ESPN to drop Michael Irvin, read here.

"The show was not performing and we had previously determined to end the show," ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz told me.

Krulewitz said news of a lawsuit filed in Fort Lauderdale alleging a rape in 2007 simply expedited the situation.

Irvin's also had falling ratings.

Ben & Skin start today.

Irvin's other employer, NFL Network, told me earlier this morning they had not decided if Irvin would work any more Super Bowl studios.

The Irvin Show was a favorite of mine as you will know if you read this blog often so I am disappointed it's gone.

But I had kind of figured it was on it's way out after hearing about the civil suit last night. The show was not the highest rated show in it's time slot and now Ben and Skin get to take on the mighty Ticket.

The NFL Network isn't going to let Irvin do any more work for them this weekend either and it's a dam shame because Emmitt is going to get the nod on Saturday.

I know it's a civil suit so this woman doesn't have to face her accuser, but at some point her name will come out and her past will come with it as well. If she's lying about all of this I hope she gets what she deserves. If she's not lying then I would like to know why she waited some 20 or so days to get the police involved.

Woman claims Michael Irvin raped her in 2007

A woman has filed a civil suit against Michael Irvin claiming she was raped by him back in 2007, read here.

A woman who says she was raped by football star Michael Irvin at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino filed a civil lawsuit against him Thursday in Broward Circuit Court.

Although no criminal charges have been filed, the Broward State Attorney's Office has been looking into the case and is expected to reach a conclusion next week, said spokesman Ron Ishoy.

The woman said the attack happened in 2007, in the late hours of July 4 or early July 5. The suit doesn't name the woman, referring to her as Jane Doe.

Irvin's lawyer, Larry Friedman, called the accusations ``totally untrue.''

Three years later we are hearing about a civil suit? Where are the criminal charges?

When asked to describe her contact with Irvin, Friedman said, ``Beyond, perhaps, meeting her, there was nothing.''

In the suit, the woman said Irvin bought her alcohol to get her drunk, then lured her to his hotel room. That's where he and another man tried stuffing money into her clothes, the suit said.

She said Irvin and the other man insisted on sexual favors. She said no.

That's when the unidentified man held her down and covered her mouth, according to the suit, then Irvin raped her, she said. When Irvin was done, the other man forced her to perform oral sex.

Afterward, Irvin's brother, Derrick Irvin, came in and took her to another room and ``assisted in covering the sexual assault and rape up,'' according to the civil lawsuit.

The one man is unidentified because the woman doesn't know who he is, said her lawyer, David Lister.

It was reported to Seminole police on July 20, 2007, Seminole Tribe spokesman Gary Bitner said.

``They investigated it thoroughly,'' Bitner said. ``Although by that time there was no longer any forensic evidence or surveillance video.''

So she waited two weeks to go to the police and there were no charges filed because of a lack of evidence.

I don't know what happened. You don't. We don't.

What I do know? There has been more than one time where a woman has accused a famous athlete of rape and in the end she was lying.

A day later, the woman signed a waiver of prosecution, which Bitner attributed to ``her desire to essentially put it behind her and not have it be splashed all over the newspapers.''

Bitner said the tribe turned over its findings to Broward prosecutors.

The woman's lawyer, Lister, said he had no comment about the Seminole police investigation.

He said his client had passed a polygraph test.

Lister also said his client and Irvin's counsel had been in negotiations for a financial settlement, but those talks stalled, prompting the lawsuit filed three days before the Super Bowl is being played in Miami.

``There were discussion back and forth between the parties,'' Lister said, adding that Irvin's representatives had asked for a settlement figure. ``Nothing came of it.''

Friedman, Irvin's attorney, called the discussions attempts at extortion.

He said the woman came forward last year, after Irvin appeared on a few episodes of the television show Dancing With the Stars.

First, she wanted $1 million, Friedman said, then came down to $800,000.

Each time, Friedman said no.

Ok. Michael Irvin looks to be earning some loot on DWTS and then she wants a settlement from Irvin or else she's going to file a civil suit?

This sucks.

I think Irvin will eventually be cleared of this and there will never be any criminal charges filed. And then the judge will hopefully throw this suit out.

One more thing. Michael Irvin has already been thru this very same situation back in 1997, read here.

The woman who falsely accused Dallas Cowboys star receiver Michael Irvin and all-pro tackle Eric Williams of sexual assault has been charged with filing a false criminal complaint.

Former topless dancer Nina Shahravan, 23, who recently admitted that she fabricated her case (JET, Jan. 27), was supposed to turn herself in to police but failed to do so at JET press time.

Dallas County Sheriffs Department Sgt. Darrell Watson said authorities usually wait until the district attorney's office files a case.

Like I said above. I don't know what happened, but just on the 'feel' of this it seems like someone is just wanting to make some money here and it isn't Michael Irvin.

Jay Glazer Show: D. Ware vs Jared Allen

Sometimes you can kind of sense a little tension in the room...

Ware is better because he can play with his hand on the ground or standing up. Allen is a one dimensional pass rusher who takes himself out of a lot of running plays, but because he has two very good DT's along the line he doesn't get called on it.

I definitely sensed a bit of tension.

Did you?

Emmitt Smith on Jay Glazer

Emmitt Smith was no fumbler. Did he ever fumble? Yes. Was it a part of his game? No.

I don't like Emmit was too fond of Jared Allen saying 'arguably' when referring to him being one of the best of all time.

There is no argument Jared. Emmitt Smith is the #1 RB of all time.

Troy Aikman on Dan Patrick Show

Good stuff from Troy Aikman on The Dan Patrick Show today...

Troy Aikman rocking the Johnny Cash man in black look today.

I don't think Troy goes one way or the other on the Cowboys. He calls it like he sees it. Some Cowboys fans get pissed at him when he points out that the Cowboys are playing poorly and most times they are just upset the team isn't playing well.

It stinks that he's not in the conversation as one of the best ever because he's definitely the most accurate QB of all time. He's also one of the best leaders to ever play the position and his willingness to accept the fact that the Cowboys would win Super Bowls letting Emmitt and the offensive line do the grunt work was genius.

You can't tell me Dan Marino wouldn't trade all of his passing records for the three Super Bowl rings Troy has stashed away at home.

Broaddus talks Super Bowl/Cowboys on Gamenight

Bryan Broaddus stops by Gamenight with Ben and Skin to talk about the big game on Sunday and the future of the Cowboys...

Broaddus on Gamenight

I think Peyton Manning is going to will the Colts to win this game. He's a machine and his defense will do enough to get him another Lombardi trophy.

Jerry has rewarded his big time players with big money deals in the last few seasons. But were those guys paid too early based on one good season?

Ken Hamlin. Roy Williams. Marion Barber.

All of these guys are playing on contracts that are overpaying them for what they are giving the Cowboys on the field.

Jerry has to decide if he's willing to give Miles Austin the big money deal now or franchise him and let him show you he can do it again next season.
